Canadian band ‘Arcade Fire’ have relaunched their hit ‘Sprawl II’ in an interactive dance-in-front-of-your-webcam version. Send your little sister or colleagues out of the room and steer the zombie-like creatures with your hands and body.

You can start busting a web move on their website Sprawl 2. Below is the regular music video in case you want to memorise some routines first. Impressive!

I loved this work from Ogilvy Buenos Aires, the Alentometro (Encourage-meter), a screen disposed in Buenos Aires where fans could watch the next game of the Argentinean football team… if they make enough noise to keep the image on the screen. Very simple, very smart!

The sound of football

Åkestam Holst and Society 46 created “The Sound of Football” to give visually impaired people a better football experience and maybe, in the future, create new aides that enable you to “see” with sound. As a first test, they arranged a football match between a team of visually impaired players and a team of former professional footballers. They wanted to see how they would perform under equal conditions – in a match where no one can see. Neat stuff.

McDonald’s: Dollar drink days experiential

Here is a great idea to kick off the week, and while it’s not digital by any means, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it just the same! McDonald’s Canada have created a very cool experiential piece at an Alberta summer beach party, by unloading a massive ice sculpture.

The catch is, this ice sculpture has over 4,000 $1 coins frozen inside, with each $1 just happening to be the going rate for drinks at McDonald’s this summer! After a while, passers by started to pick at the ice, eventually working out that they can take as many coins as they can get out!

Swiffy

Not to long ago, I blogged about a FLASH to HTML5 convertor known as SmokeScreen. However it was still in beta stage and now google has beat them to it with Swiffy. It converts Flash SWF files to HTML5, allowing you to reuse Flash content on devices without a Flash player (such as iPhones and iPads). However, it is still uncertain how much interactivity is ported over during the conversion. Will update more on my future post.

The verbalizer

Breakfast teamed up with Google to create something just a little bit fun to help with the launch of Google Voice, and they called it The Verbalizer.

The Verbalizer is an open source dev/electronics board, meaning it’s basically a cool little custom built microphone, accompanied with a bunch of open source code to let you utilise Google Voice Search in all sorts of ways, in fact, in anyway you can think of! Have a crack at this yourself…
