Peach Post

Sorry for the lack of updates as i have been travelling for the past few days. Got myself a neat little break to Bangkok and it was a really inspiring trip as i got to meet up with a few local promising artist that shape the art scene of bangkok.

It was a cooling evening as i begin my journey to one of the most visited night market, Suan Lam night market in Bangkok. The whole area was neatly constructed, with row and columns of shops that features art, clothing, furniture, interior decors and etc. No doubt it might seem like a place which retails stuff that is targeted at tourist, however, this little place actually house many talented artist with cutting edge work that may even be on par with a few famous international artist. As i was exploring and visiting individual unique shops, i was rooted to my shoes when i came across this litte shop know as the Heart Gallery.

Initiated by Peach Somchai, the Heart Gallery feature simple, innocent and child like art pieces that is unique and special. He focus mainly on doodle art, but his work displayed there took me on a journey of whats going on in his heart and mind. Simple yet sophisticated, the thought behind the shop seems more like an art gallery rather than a retail outlet.

After a few words with Somchai, the catalyst behind the shop is really about his passion for fine arts, paint and brushes. He was approached many times with request to have his works on t-shirts, furnitures and even wall murals. So instead of just putting his work into an art gallery, he just made his art gallery into a roving one as he hand paints every request and each of them are unique with no single duplication in design. He took me on a little tour through his shopped and took time to explain the ideology behind each of his work. Needless to say, good time passby quickly and it’s time for me to continue my exploration. A multi-talented artist and kind host that really made my Bangkok trip a fruitful one.

John Pawson’s Private Residence

British architect John Pawson is a master of minimalism. He is recognized for Calvin Klein’s flagship store in Manhattan and a Cistercian monastery in Bohemia. His house in London, a Zen like living space, has been reduced to its essence, as close to perfect as possible. It has false walls to hide things he doesn’t want to display. The natural light and the empty space seem to communicate more than the space that is filled up with something. Nice
