Design quotes

Alex Giron put together a design quotes display system that can be used as a screensaver. Head over to neography.com/designquotes and take a look for yourself. Mac users can use IdleWeb, a nice little app that allows you to set up any webpage as your screensaver. Just make sure you set it up in “kiosk” mode within the screensaver options.

A couple of days ago, I wrote about how clients have been under-valuing creative nowadays. David Airey came out with a pricing formula to justify our worth. Gives a a better reasoning when unreasonable clients surface.

miss_quotes

It has been sometime since i have been alone in this corner of the world and the thoughts of being close to my love ones lingers in my mind daily. This phrase made me smile as i ponder on the things i want to say to them. Maybe i should start telling them how i feel in a unique way like this?

The meaning of courage

quote22

A few of my fellow creatives came and seek my advice on some work related issues. When I was sounding them out, I realize that people nowadays would prefer to sit in their comfort zone, meaning they are afraid to take a step to do something different as the fear of making a mistake is thereI was brought up in a society full of comformalities. There were “rules” from how you should make friends, meet you ideal partner, all the way to definition of a decent job.

I was facing juxtaposition back in my country whereby everything is so modernize; yet, it seems that we still embrace mindset from 30 years ago. A classic real life example is that my mum still thinks my job as a creative is not very “respectable”, and prefers me to be an accountant or sort. This would be “a decent job” in her perspective.

Well back then, I figured, maybe it was something to do with how our society was structure. But right now, I guess it’s up to individual to do what they feel it’s right, in every aspect of life. I guess as the saying goes, “It’s better to have tried than not.” The next time we want to make things happen, we need to tell ourselves to be bold and take a step, as there are always 2 sides to a coin.
