Its been quite some time since i have been in Shanghai now. But to be honest, most of the time is spend in the office. So last weekend, i decided to give myself a day off and i stumble upon this nice place call “Tian Zi Fang”. Located at Tai Kang road, it is filled with Shikumen houses showcasing works from local artist. Upon embarking on this street, the mixture of modern arts with a nostalgic setting, makes me ponder and marveled at how much shanghai has evolved over the last 10 years. It’s crowed by the time i reach there, but that did not really stop me from exploring further. And thats when i found more interesting stuff.
No doubt this place has been commercialize to a certain extend, it is still fill with local residents. These residents are older folks, who have been through times of war, and times of revolution. The wrinkles on their faces age with the tales they have to share. It’s a priceless experience when they invited you in and related their history over a traditional cup of chinese tea. To me, it just seem i was in a time capsule, which dates all the way back to the early 1920s.

If you just plan to rip your credit cards when shopping in shanghai, i would recommend you to just take a break from your schedule, and drop by this place, maybe it will open you mind to another dimension.
